Jil Sander and Oliver Peoples present their first joint sunglasses collection

Oliver Peoples is expanding its portfolio in the premium segment with a new designer collaboration. In collaboration with the fashion brand Jil Sander, the Californian eyewear label is launching a joint sunglasses collection on the market for the first time. The collaboration combines the minimalist design language of Jil Sander with the characteristic eyewear aesthetics of Oliver Peoples and is aimed at discerning customers who appreciate high-quality materials, precise workmanship and timeless design.

The campaign images for the collection are by photographer Walter Pfeiffer and were taken in Hamburg - the place where the Jil Sander story began. The imagery picks up on the dialog between European modernity and Californian nonchalance, which also characterizes the design of the eyewear. (Image: Walter Pfeiffer)

At the heart of the collection is a deliberately minimalist design approach that works with contrasts: angular and organic shapes, industrial and natural materials as well as technical precision and minimalist design. This duality characterizes both the design language and the choice of materials for the models. Titanium and acetate are used, which are combined in a clear, purist design. All frames are elaborately handcrafted in Japan. They are complemented by high-quality lenses from Italian production. The collection also remains true to its minimalist approach when it comes to branding: logos are deliberately discreet and integrated into functional elements such as temples or nose pads.

The collection comprises a total of six unisex sunglasses, which are divided into titanium and acetate models.

The Edition 1, Edition 2 and Edition 5 titanium frames are characterized by a precisely designed frame structure, with the rim above the lenses being more elaborate and appearing more delicate underneath. Engraved logos on flattened titanium elements and characteristic drop-shaped temple tips add subtle design accents while ensuring a high level of comfort. Edition 1 interprets a triangular shape with a double bridge, while Edition 2 creates a clear, architectural silhouette with angular lenses and a high single bridge. Edition 5 presents itself as a particularly striking model in the series with a double bridge and horizontally oriented, drop-shaped lenses.

The acetate models Edition 3, Edition 4 and Edition 6 feature a more sculptural, voluminous design language. Ergonomically designed temples, individually developed hinges and hand-applied logo plaques characterize the workmanship.

Edition 3 appears as an expressive cat-eye model with high temples, while Edition 4 stands out with its sharply cut, ultra-horizontal lines. Edition 6 is a particularly purist interpretation of classic acetate sunglasses and deliberately dispenses with visible screws or decorative elements.

The color scheme also follows the minimalist concept of the collection. In addition to classic shades such as black, brown and tortoiseshell, the palette includes specially developed nuances such as dark green, pale pink and butterscotch. Frames and lenses are often combined tone-in-tone or accentuated by subtle contrasts.

The unisex sunglasses are now available worldwide, exclusively in selected Jil Sander and Oliver Peoples stores and online at jilsander.com and oliverpeoples.com. The collection also marks the start of a long-term collaboration between the two brands.
