Opti 2026: Pure motivation for the RetinaLyze team
„What a great few days in Munich at Opti. According to the feedback from our many visitors to the stand, we had the right offers and suitable innovations in our trade fair luggage. But the real value of Opti 2026 for our entire team came from the many honest and inspiring conversations with opticians who, like us, have a strong focus on working together to steer the future of eye healthcare in the right direction,“ explains Michael Anthonsen, CEO of RetinaLyze D-A-CH, after three successful days at the trade fair.

RetinaLyze presented much more than „just“ the artificial intelligence for eye screening that has been known for many years, including ophthalmologist back-up. Rather, the exchange with the industry was about real work processes in which modern technology supports professional expertise and does not replace it! The advanced glaucoma AI algorithm presented for the first time at Opti is representative of this and also shows what is already possible today with the corresponding technology.
The groundbreaking innovation enables the 3D visualization of two-dimensional fundus images. „Analyzing the color composition of the optic nerve head in a conventional fundus image allows a reliable estimate of the local hemoglobin distribution as a direct indicator of perfusion,“ says Anthonsen. The machine and deep learning algorithms build on over 1.1 million optic nerve images to create a 3D model of the cup-to-disc ratio showing the neuroretinal rim and cup volume.
Bridge to practice
A development that the two opticians in the RetinaLyze team happily discussed with the many trade fair visitors at the stand. In Munich, Patrick and Kevin Körbs built a bridge to the users' practice, and they had another joker up their sleeve in the redesign of the PDF report. The new report considerably simplifies and optimizes communication between opticians, ophthalmologists and customers - and was correspondingly well received by visitors to the trade fair.

Opti 2026 was once again pure motivation and a win-win trade fair: „We are entering the new year with plenty of tailwind! The trust in us, as well as the empathy and human judgment of our customers, who are at the heart of healthcare, make us proud. From the many great conversations, we realize what we have always communicated: AI is powerful and becoming increasingly powerful, but its true value comes from the users; qualified optometrists, opticians and last but not least ophthalmologists united in one network,“ explains the CEO, not without emphasizing that in the original of artificial intelligence in eye screening, the optician is still at the heart of the network.
