The middle section of the frame is laminated to create an exciting play of colors and an impressive 3D effect. With four exciting color combinations, we offer a wide selection to underline a personal style. Some models feature textured materials for added dynamism. At the same time, all models are super wearable thanks to their single-colored top layers. The trend for this season is definitely colorful! With these frames, the wearer makes a clear statement and shows her love of color and fashion trends.

From sleight of hand to rocket man

Pickpocket, master thief, fakir and rocket man - these are the names of the hot sunglasses from Einstoffen, which are available in many new colors and designs this summer. If you are not yet familiar with the workmanship and quality of Einstoffen sunglasses, you should definitely try them on. After that, you won't want to wear any others.

For all repeat offenders, Einstoffen has many new colors and shapes available on its website. However, the best thing to do is to go to your trusted optician, where you can take your time to look at the new models. New: you can find the right retailer in your area using the store finder. "We're betting that it will be an incredibly beautiful and, above all, long summer. So it could be well worth adorning yourself with a pair of our new sunglasses," say the makers of Einstoffen.

More than just a glasses case

If you want an eyewear collection that is 100% made in Switzerland, you also have to think about where and how a glasses case is made. For this reason, a new glasses case was developed for the sustainable Götti BIONIC collection, which incorporates many innovative ideas and is also produced in Switzerland.

New ideas are needed, as sustainability is directly linked to the material, including procurement, production and distribution. It's all about reduction and simplification - exactly the same ideas behind Götti BIONIC. The minimalist case consists of 5 individual parts, which are supplied as a kit. It takes up very little space when stored - a great side effect, as there is often a lack of storage space in smaller stores. Certainly a little unusual but all the more exciting, the glasses case is assembled in front of the customer's eyes. This allows the idea behind the sustainable case to be brought to life. Two different types of case can be made from the individual parts in just a few simple steps. Horizontal or vertical - and with a cord as a fashion accessory to wear around your neck.

The flexible vinyl leather is connected to the button parts with just a few clicks. This button holds the case together and also serves as a closure for the design. It is the centerpiece of the glasses case, was developed by Götti and is also produced in Switzerland. The durable material is ideal as a connecting piece and allows the case to be easily reassembled if necessary. Together with a cleaning cloth made from recycled PET, the case is supplied with every pair of BIONIC glasses.

A glasses case that is made in Switzerland from A to Z is an absolute novelty. "This case perfectly rounds off the story behind Götti BIONIC and underlines the idea of "slow eyewear" with 100% Swissness, which we also pursue with our eyewear," says Sven Götti. When it comes to sustainability, the reduction to a few parts, minimal energy consumption and short transportation routes are essential. These factors are all incorporated into this eyewear case concept. At Götti, the motto is: Fold your favorite case!

OptiExpert app

"We are delighted that our unique disposable contact lenses can now help even more people with visual impairments to see better," says Dr. Ole Rossbach, Head of Marketing D-A-CH. "It also makes life easier for our partner companies, as they no longer have to spend time researching which parameters are covered when selecting the right disposable contact lens." The OptiExpert app, which was specially developed for contact lens fitters, provides further support for the quick fitting of silicone hydrogel daily disposable lenses. It contains a calculator that suggests the most suitable contact lens for each individual. The easy-to-use app reduces the time required to select the right contact lenses.

Sustainability through plastic neutrality

Oscar winner Russell Crowe: "If you wear a tuxedo in the afternoon, don't forget your Blackfin sunglasses!"

In a summer full of concerts, glamor and film festivals, Oscar winner Russell Crowe made a unique style choice. Known for his outstanding roles in hit films such as "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind", Crowe never ceases to amaze us both on and off the screen.

After an intense week in Italy, where he occupied himself with leisure moments and musical commitments with his band Indoor Garden Party, Crowe flew to the Czech Republic to attend the 57th edition of the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. There he walked the red carpet wearing a pair of Blackfin sunglasses, the Copeland model.

The famous Hollywood star also wore his Blackfin sunglasses in style during the Italian tour, maintaining a distinctive look. His love for the brand was even expressed in a tweet in which he recommended: "If you're wearing a tuxedo in the afternoon, don't forget your Blackfin sunglasses!"

This spotted moment shows that Blackfin continues to be the reference brand for those who, like Crowe, are looking for quality, style and a unique identity.

Survey on the influence of sustainability on employer attractiveness

The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly present in the optical industry: studies show that responsible action is increasingly important for current and potential employees and can have a positive impact on employer brand* and the choice of employer. Lars Steinebach, Deputy Managing Director at the Scientific Association for Ophthalmic Optics and Optometry (WVAO) and Master's student at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, explores this topic in his Master's thesis.

The aim of his research is to provide opticians with practical recommendations on how to make working in the optical industry more attractive for employees. Central questions of his work include

  • Which job characteristics are preferred by employees in ophthalmic optics?
  • What influence do sustainable activities and offers have on the choice of employer in the optical industry?

Lars Steinebach: "In my study, I compare the influence of CSR activities on the choice of employer with other classic job characteristics. For me, the reason for asking this question is to a certain extent the efforts made in the industry to date. There are good models and measures for tackling the issue of sustainability in the optical industry in a meaningful way. However, it has not yet been established to what extent sustainability can be a success factor for opticians. In my work, I now address one of the potential positive influences of sustainability. The aim is to assess the importance of relevant employer characteristics for opticians in German-speaking countries and ultimately to derive practical recommendations for opticians. A large sample is crucial for the success of the work."

To investigate his research questions, Lars Steinebach is addressing a survey to all employees and students in the sector and asking for their support. Participation takes about 8 to 10 minutes. After completing the survey, each participant will receive an evaluation of their own job preferences.

* Employer branding describes all measures that a company can take to strengthen its own brand and present itself to potential applicants as a suitable and attractive employer. Employer branding can therefore be translated as "employer branding". The term is increasingly being used, particularly in HR departments, marketing departments, corporate divisions set up for this purpose or by specialized agencies.

Johnson & Johnson Vision is committed to a sustainable future

Contact lens manufacturer Johnson & Johnson is committed to a sustainable future and aims to become climate-neutral by 2030. All ACUVUE contact lenses are already manufactured using 100 percent green electricity. Contact lens practitioners also benefit from this commitment, as Johnson & Johnson Vision provides them with information on the topic of sustainability.

Sustainability is an important purchasing criterion for 47 percent of consumers in Switzerland. With ACUVUE contact lenses, they can be sure they are making the right choice. All lenses from the popular Johnson & Johnson Vision brand are already manufactured using 100% renewable energy from wind power. The company aims to be completely climate-neutral by 2030.

The use of green electricity is one of numerous measures with which the contact lens manufacturer aims to contribute to a sustainable future. The company is focusing on the three key areas of climate change, waste avoidance and nature conservation - and has already achieved considerable success:

  • By switching from air to sea freight, the CO2 footprint was reduced by 35 percent.4
  • Through various initiatives to increase energy efficiency and the increased use of renewable energies, Johnson & Johnson Vision saves 42,000 tons of CO2 annually. This corresponds to approximately 9,100 fewer cars on the road.
  • 90 percent of unused materials from ACUVUE® production facilities are recycled.7
  • The abolition of plastic bags for delivery bills alone has saved 10 tons of plastic per year.

"As a global contact lens manufacturer and expert in good vision, we make an important contribution to health. It is therefore part of our self-image to preserve and improve the conditions for a healthy life on our planet," emphasizes Dr. Patrick Fuy, Senior Group Brand Manager at Johnson & Johnson Vision. "We are consistently committed to an ecological future. We want to take our partners with us on this journey, because they can also benefit from our commitment to sustainability."

Johnson & Johnson Vision provides opticians with a toolbox of information materials so that they can use the sustainability argument to score points in consultations. These explain the company's sustainability activities and show how contact lens wearers can contribute to greater sustainability themselves. For example, by paying attention to the responsible disposal of contact lenses: Cardboard packaging and instructions for use can be recycled via the waste paper collection, care product bottles and blister packs belong in the recycling collection (remove foil from blisters, separate plastic and aluminum foil) and used contact lenses in household waste.
