EssilorLuxottica and Meta expand AI eyewear portfolio

EssilorLuxottica and Meta are further expanding their range of AI-supported eyewear and, with the new Ray-Ban Meta Optical collection, are focusing for the first time on models that have been specifically developed for prescription eyewear wearers.

The expansion is part of the long-term partnership between the two companies, which has already established a new product category with the Ray-Ban Meta. In addition to the sporty Oakley Meta models, the focus is now shifting more towards everyday use for prescription eyewear wearers.

Focus on prescription glasses and optical advice

The new collection includes the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Scriber Optics (Gen 2) models. Both frames have been specially designed for everyday use as prescription eyewear and combine a slimmer design with enhanced comfort. Interchangeable nose pads, flexible hinges with additional freedom of movement and individually adjustable temple tips ensure a precise fit.

A central element is the integration of Meta AI, which can be activated directly via a newly placed action button. This gives users quick access to personalized functions and allows them to capture content hands-free. At the same time, the models support a wide range of lens designs - from single vision to progressive and transition lenses - and are therefore highly relevant for optical consultations.

Parallel to the Optical collection, EssilorLuxottica is also expanding the Oakley Meta portfolio with new color variants. For the first time, the Oakley Meta Vanguard model is being offered with Transitions lenses. These automatically adapt to changing light conditions and, together with Prizm technology, enable a high-contrast visual experience - in everyday life and during sport.

Extended functions and growing market potential

In addition, seasonal color options are being introduced for selected Ray-Ban models, which are available for a limited time. The system is also being continuously expanded in terms of functionality. New AI features such as live translations in additional languages, hands-free nutrition documentation and intelligent news summaries underline the claim to position the glasses as an everyday digital companion.

„With Meta, we have created a completely new category and established AI eyewear in everyday life. With the new Optical collection, we are now taking the next step and targeting prescription spectacle wearers. This not only expands the range of applications, but also opens up new potential for optical retailers,“ say Francesco Milleri, CEO of EssilorLuxottica, and Paul du Saillant, Deputy CEO.

The AI glasses make it possible to capture visual impressions directly, take photos and videos from your own perspective, listen to music, make phone calls or send messages - all hands-free. High-quality audio and camera technology and the integration of common platforms ensure a seamless user experience.

EssilorLuxottica supports partner opticians in presenting these smart glasses as a responsibly developed innovation via the „Leonardo“ training platform, among other things. The new models are available from selected authorized partner opticians.
